RUGBY WINNERS DECLARED.
SENIOR DIVISIONS. PONSONBY AND TAKAFUKA. JUBILEE TROPHY CHALLENGES. Decision to declare closed both the senior first and second division competitions and to send letters of congratulation to the winners, Ponsonby and lakapuna respectively, was made "hen the management committee of the Aucfcland Kugby Union met last night. Thus the Ponsonby Club will ' retain possession for the third year in succession of the Uallaher Shield, and the Takapuna Club will become possessors ot the i'ollard Cup. "A good effort for a young club like Takapuna to win the second division, commented the chairman, Mr. A. A. Baker, who referred to the sportsmanship of the two ex-All Blacks, M. M. Corner and W. Hadley, who have been playercoaches for the Takapuna senior team this season. It was a pity other retiring players could not be obtained to assist the' weaker senior clubs, he said. Decision was made also to call for chal- J lenges to Ponsonby for the Jubilee Trophy. The Marist Clubs challenge was to hand at last night's meeting. It was decided to give other clubs until Wednesday to submit challenges. A decision as to which will be accepted will then be madp, and the match will be played on October 1. SATURDAY'S PROGRAMME.
