TO STRENGTHEN TEAM.
D. SOLOMON AND J. DICK. MATOH WITH WELLINGTON. Included in minor matters settled by the Auckland Rugby Union's management committee last night was a decision to send J. Dick and i). Solomon to Wellington for the representative fixture with the Wellington Union on September 10. This decision was reached in view of the Auckland Union's nnderstanding with Wellington that the- strongest possible teams should be placed in the field for the annual match. Dick and Solomon are unable to accompany the representative team on its tour The junior representative team was granted permission to travel to Te Aroha on Saturday and to stay there overnight. A grant of £5 was made toward expenses. Other teams granted permission to travei were Lden and Takapuna sides.
TECHNICAL GETS POINTS. THIRD GRADE CONTROVERSY. Notification from the Junior Management Board that it must hold to its original decision that the Technical third grade team were the winners of a match at the Showgrounds, because the Suburbs thud grade side refused to be weighed was received by the management committee of the Rugby Union last night Wie management committee last week advised the Junior Management Board to award no points for the match, since Technical refused to play after Suburbs declined to be weighed, and, therefore were also at fault. After considerable discussion the junior board s decision was confirmed. MAORIS FOR AUCKLAND.
