VETERANS , GOI.F TOURNEY. SEMI-FINALS BEACHED. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star. ,, ) ROTORUA, this day. H. B. Luftfc (Auckland) was defeated 3 and 2 by A. J. Shepherd (Morrinsville) in the third round of the Veterans' Golf Cup tournament this morning. Luek, whose play was showing the strain of two weeks of golf, including the open championship last week, was playing badly to-day. In addition he had to concede eleven strokes to Shepherd. J. H. Scott (Miramar) had a close game against H. P. Bryan (Tauranga), winning on the nineteenth. H. Blackie (Hamilton) and A. W. Downer (Kotorua), the titleholder, had good wins to reach the semi-finals thh .afternoon. In the Arikikapakapa Cup, -J. BarracJough (Hastings) played well to defeat A. W. Everj- (Tauranga). Other games in this event resulted in H. Gillies (Hamilton) beating W L Parsons (Hutt) 5 and 4. and R. Haldane (Waipukurau) beating H. Prior (Maeterton) 3 and 2.
