Armed Robbery Alleged Against Seaman. WAITRESS REMANDED. United Press Association.—Copyright. SYDNEY, August 15. At the City; Police Court to-day, Arthur Stickings, otherwise known as Peter Fisher, aged 31, a seaman, was charged with having at Auckland on August 8, while armed with a shotgun, robbed Frank Pickering of £219 9/, the property of the Atta Taxi Company, Limited. Fisher was further charged with having in his possession £11 4/9, reasonably suspected of being stolen, and also with being a prohibited immigrant. The police prosecutor, Sergeant Magnay, asked the magistrate to refuse bail. He added that Fisher allegedly left New Zealand with a woman who was in his company when he was arrested yesterday. Fisher was remanded to appear on August 29, bail being refused. At a later stage, Florence Stewart, aged 22, a waitress, was charged with having goods in her custody reasonably suspected of being stolen. The police prosecutor said she arrived from New Zealand on Saturday with a man who was earlier charged with a serious offence. The accused's solicitor, Mr. J. Meagher, interposed, and said that Stewart was really a victim of circumstances. She had never previously been in trouble. Stewart was remanded until August i 29. Bail of £10 was allowed.
