POLLARD SELLS FREELY.
BRAN STILL SCARCE.
There have been few alterations in valuee on the local grain and produce markets since last report. Pollard ia in keen demand and with a scarcity of local supplies merchants are handling substantial quantities of Australian, which' come forward in regular shipments. Limited quantities of Australian bran are also being imported to meet the acute shortage which still exists. The potato market shows some weakness in the South, but there has not been any change in local prices. The demand is particularly brisk. Inquiries for seed varieties have improved in the last ten days. Onions are in short supply, bat t> substantial shipment is expected by the Wanganella to-morrow. Merchants have had difficulty in obtaining their requirements of southern chaff in recent weeks, but freer deliveries are now being made. Maize, too, is coming forward in larger quantities. Prices for this end also for barley are unchanged. Following are latest quotations, the prices being based on rate* for delivery ex city stores: — Pollard and Bran.—Merchant* , prices: Pollard, local; £7 15/ per ton; Australian, £9 10/; bran £6 15/. Australian £9 10/. Potatoes: Table, southern, white, £6 10/; reds, £6 15/ per ton. Seed: Early Rose, 12/9 per cwt; Robin Adair, 14/; Cliff's Kidney. 12/3; Up-to-Date, 10/6; Maori Chief, 11/9: Early Puritan, 7/3* Sutton's Supreme. 9/: Arran Chief, 7/; Gamekeeper, 7/; Dakota Red. 7/9. Onions.—Australian, 18/ per be*. Chaff.—£ll per ton. Oate.—B Gartone, 11/2 to 11/5 per cental: A Gartons, 12/4; clipped Gartons, 13/2; clipped Dune, 15/; clipped Algerians, 13/4. Wheat.—ll/10 per cental. . Barley.—Clinped. 10/5 per cental. ■ Barley Meal.—ll/ per cental. Wheatmeal.—l3/ per cental. Maize.—ll/9 per cental; crushed, 13/9.
