BOXING.

MONDAY'S ATTRACTIONS. GILDO AND CLARKE AGAIN. Monday night's boxing carnival is an eagerly anticipated event for the large number of boxing fans who see in Snowy (Al) Clarke a very likely victor over the brilliant Filipino "Younjg" Gildo. In the first keenly-fought contest between Gildo and Clarke the crowd thrilled to the spectacular tactics of two evenlymatched opponents, who made use of every triok of ringeraft and technique at their disposal, and traded punch for punch with unabated vigour throughout the twelve rounds. A return bout was the obvious conclusion, and there is little doubt that another packed house will witness the fight on Monday night. Don Johnstone, of Auckland, meets Bob Morrighan, late of Christchurch, in the supporting professional bout of eight three-minute rounds. Johnstone is a steady aggressive fighter, and Morrighan's first professional appearance in Auckland is awaited with considerable interest, the Christchurch fighter being regarded as somewhat of a "dark horse" whose capable two-handed punch is likely to create a real surprise in boxing circles. In the preliminaries J. Lambert (Auckland Gym.) meets A. McGregor (J. Davey's gym.) in an amateur light-weight contest, and T. Sharpe (E. Donovan's gyni.l meets G. Schimanski (Taranaki) in i light-heavy-weight contest. CALTAUX BEATS MARSHALL. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) GISBORNE, Thursday. Tn a professional boxing contest to-night Caltaux beat Marshall on a technical knockout In the sixth round. Marshall fought at short notice, replacing Davis. He save an unconvincing display. Caltaux failed to find a guard against Marshall's left and depended entirely upon the weight of his punches. WORLD TITLES. TWO CHAMPIONSHIPS IN DISPUTE. NEW YORK, July 2S.
