MUSICAL EVENING.

SOUTH AFRICAN CLUB.

MANY MEMBERS ATTEND

The South African Club held its third social of the year in the Pen women's Club rooms last evening. The meeting. which took the form of a musical entertainment, was attended by a large number of club members aiid visitors.

Guest of honour of the club was Mrs. Victor Macky. The president. Air. J. P. Alhrecht. spoke of the work Mr-*. Macky had done in connection with the club's inauguration last year, and on behalf of all the members he thanked her for her assistance. On arrival the members were received by Mrs. ,T. P. Alhrecht. wife of the president, who was wearing a frock of black niarocain, embroidered with tinv blue motifs.

During the evening opportunity was taken to thank the retiring secretary of the club. Miss Alexander, and she Was presented with a. bouquet of autumn flowers in recognition of her excellent work as first secretary of the club.

The programme for the evening consisted of humorous recitations by Mr. H. Finklestein. piano accordion items by Mr. A. McMcekin. items by Mrs. Lewis' musical quartet, and a one-act play presented by Miss R. Lovcll and players.
