"HANDLE" THROWN.
INCIDENT IN HOTEL MAN SENT TO PRISON. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. The of how George Edgar Pengelly threw an empty beer "handle" at the head of the licensee of the White Swan Hotel yesterday afternoon, was related in the Magistrate's Court to-day, when Pengelly appeared on five charges as the result of getting drunk. He was sentenced to 30 days' imprisonment on a charge of using obscene language in the public bar of the White Swan Hotel, and on four other charges he was convicted and discharged by Mr. E. C. j Levvey, S.M. Pengelly pleaded guilty, r Sub-Inspector Packer said that Pengelly had gone into the hotel, where he bought a handle of beer. The licensee had refused the accused a loan of 2/6, | but had given him a handle of beer. The licensee had then turned away, and Pengelly had thrown the empty handle iat him. He missed and a bottle of whisky and a measure were damaged by ! the flying mug. Pengelly had at the I same time used bad language..
