COMPANY'S LOSS.

COST OP THEATRE. Amalgamated Theatres, Limited, who operate the theatre on a long lease, have suffered heavy loss. According to figures at the head office of the company in Auckland, the State cost £25,000 without furnishing when built in 1935. At that time It was a new building, and was opened in June of 1935. The theatre is situated on a corner block owned by John Bates and' Co., Ltd., china and hardware merchants. Formerly the site was occupied by Armstrong and Co., Ltd., drapers. The company Intends to rebuild the theatre.
