BOLD BID FAILS.
PRISONER RECAPTURED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDTN, Sunday. A bold escape from custody at the central police station tin-; afternoon was made by Francis Henry '.onion ftuilford. who escaped on May 2 from I'aparua prison and was arrested on Wednesday last at South Duncdin. The. prisoner's period of liberty, however, was of short duration, and approximately 65 minutes after his escape he was back in the cells, due to the smart work by Sergeant Stark and Constable A. Drake, of South Dunedin station. When arrested on the foreshore at Anderson's Bay, Guilford res'sted vio J lently, but ho was overpowered and conveyed back to the station in a private motor car.
