NEW THAMES CONVENT.

FOUNDATION STONE LAID. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) THAMES, this day. The foundation stone of the new St. Joseph's Convent was officially laid yesterday by Bishop Liston in the presence of a large gathering of parishioners. The building will be a brick two-storey one and will cost £5000. The eite of the new building is between the school and the church° in Willoughby Street. Speakers at the ceremony were Bishop Li«ton, Father Lyons, Mr. S. Ensor, Mayor of Thames, Mr. J. Thorn, M.P., Mr. W. H. Hoiilt, chairman of the church committee, and Monsignor Holbfook, of Auckland. At the close of the ceremony all present were entertained at the school. A large eum in voluntary contributions towards the cost of the new building wae received.
