PROGRESSIVE LEAGUE.
REVIEW OF WORK. MEETING AT NORTHCOTE. A tribute to the zealous and able discharge of the duties of the presidential office of the Northcote Women's Progressive League by Mrs. Archie Ca.mpbell was paid by members at the annual meeting. The patron, Mrs. D. P. O'Leary, Mrs. W. E. Carter (who was elected president subsequently), and other members voiced the general appreciation of the work accomplished for several years under the leadership of Mrs. Campbell, who ,it was regretted, was unabe to offer her services this year for a further term. It was unanimously decided to place on record the league's deep sense of appreciation of the work of Mrs. Campbell as president for six years. The annual report referred to tbe death of Mrs. A. Taylor in June last, and the provision made for a memorial to commemorate her work as secretary since the inception of the league. Mrs. A. E. Tremain had filled the position since. The sum of £45 \~>/~> was collected on Poppy Day, £27 1/1 for St. John Ambulance Association, and £18 11/1 for the combined orphanages fund. The service at the Northcote War Memorial on An/.ac Day was attended by members of the league, who subsequently placed wreaths on the soldiers' graves in the adjacent cemeteries. The report of the Wilson's Home Hospital Auxiliary was submitted by Mrs. Archie Campbell, the convener for Northcote. A telegram from the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, stated that the question of appointment of -women police would be carefully looked into.
The following officers were elected: Patron, Mrs. D. P. O'Leary; president, Mrs. W. E. Carter; vice-presidents, Miss E. Gillibrand, sen., Mrs. J. P. Howden, Mrs. J. Brindle, Mrs. Archie Campbell; secretary, Mrs. J. W. Brooker; assist-ant-secretary and treasurer, Mrs. W. F. Ward; committee, Mrs. F. H. Woodliouse, Mrs. A. L. jßliiott Mrs. J. Leonard, Mrs. N. S. Davidson, Mrs. A. ,T. Grant, Mrs E. C. Horsman, and. Mrs. W. G. Hoare. The opportunity was taken to wish Mrs. W. Rackett bon voyage on her projected trip to England, and she was presented with a bouquet of flowers and a travelling diary. Mesdames Rees Davies, Syd. T. Carter, Miss Isobel Crowe were welcomed as new members.
