MATCH AT WHANGAREI. Outright Win In Sight For Home Side. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day.
At the end of the first day's play in the Dargaville Shield cricket match between Whangarei and Rodney, Whangarei had a first innings' lead. Furthermore, the challengers (Rodney) had lost the wicket of Pat Dunning, one of their best batsmen, for a second time, and were still 14 behind. Rodney in their first knock compiled 85, and Whangarei replied with 123. The visitors' second innings produced 134, and Whangarei required 97 for an outright win. Scores:— RODNEY.
