DRAKE'S DRUM SAVED.

RELICS ESCAPE FIRE IN DEVON (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON*, January 6. Drake's drum, which legend says rolled a warning note when Kngland was endangered, was saved from a fire at Kuckland Abbey, Devon, once Drake's home. The occupants, Mrs. R. O. Mevrick and her two young sons, on awakening, found the building in flames. Their first thought was to save the Drake relics, including the drum and the sword worn by Drake as Mayor of Plymouth, but paintings and china were destroyed when parts of the roof collapsed.
