SANDY POWELL IN FILMS.
AUCKLAND'S FIRST TO-MORROW.
Although lie has been seen by English audiences in three or four talking films, k-andy Powell is a brand-new screen star so far ;;s New Zealand audiences are concerned. His records have achieved an amazing degree of popularity here, and it was inevitable that his films should sooner or later be released in this country. Action I'ilms bought up the product, and will Present "Can You Hear Me, Mother?" at the Majestic Theatre to-morrow. Sandy's peculiar type of humorous entertainments aie the principal form of entertainment in this production; he is known through the records, "Sandy Joins the Nudists, "Sandy at the North Pole," "Sandv the Film ® tar '. ''Snndy the Burglar." "Sandv the Dentist, "Sandy the Gangster," etc. His drawling dialect speech and occasionally risque remarks have made his popularitv, and he should perpetuate, even increase, his local following with hid work in the entertaining film, "Can You Hear Me, Mother?" Comedy is the keynote of the picture; it is never allowed to lag. The humour is suitable for all types of screen audience, and will be welcomed by many as a contrast to the multitudinous modern crazy comedy films Hollywood lias given us in the past year. • Screening at the Majestic in conjunction with "Can You Hear Me, Mother ?" is a thoroughly entertaining Hollywood societv farce, "A Girl With Ideas," featuring English Wendy Barrie, possessor of a charming, delicate beauty that is distinctlv her own ; Walter Pidgeon, former musical comedy star; and Kent Taylor, handsome young leading man of many recent film successes.
