WEDDED TO A GHOST
A TROUBLED BRIDE.
WAS HUSBAND A SPECTRE?
MET AT HAUNTED HOUSE.
(Special.—By Air Mail.) LONDOX, December 18. A young and attractive London woman is wondering if she married a ghost. About two years ago she stayed in a West of England country house, reputed to be haunted by a ghost who appeared at meal times. The gill, during a dance, went upstairs to fet<h a wrap, and entered a room in which was a buffet. A man came in. She spoke to him. He did not reply, but walked around the table and out of the room.
She could not forget his face, and weeks after when lunching in a London restaurant she saw the man again. They were introduced. A speedy courtship, and they were married.
Soon after their marriage they were invited to the same country house" There was a dance again; there* was a buffet in the same room. The couple went to this room in which they had first met, but when she recalled their meeting the husband looked puzzled and declared he had no recollection of it. Then lie behaved just as the "ghost" did, walked round the table, brushed past her out of the room—and vanished.
This strange "ghost" storv was related this week bv Dr. C. K. M. Joad, head of the Department of Philosophy and Psychology at Birkbeek College, London. WaS s ' x ,110,1 ~' , s ago." he said. "The girl is broken-hsarted. She has had search made—without result."
