TALLOW, HEMP, FRUIT. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated December 17, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— 1 allow.—Market continues quiet on the spot, with prices unchanged. Hemp. — Manila: Market continues steady. "K." grade for January-March shipments sold £25. Output January 1 to December 13, 1,267,000 -bales, against 1,239,000 for the same period last year. Stocks in United Kingdom November 31, 9945 bales, against 9147 at the same time last year. Stocks in Manila December 13, 163,000 bales, against 143,000 same time last year. Sisal: Market dull; slightly better depand at the decline. January-March shipments sold £19 17/6; closing values February-April shipments, £20. New Zealand: Market dull; no first-hand sales reported. Stocks in London December 1, 39 tons, against 52 tons at same time last year.
Eggs.—Market firm ; prices higher. English, national pack, 21/ to 24/6; English, ordinary pack, 21/ to 21/6; Danish, 14-171b, 15/ to 18/; Australian, 12/9 to 15/. Apples.—Market steady. Oregon ?fewtowns, 9/ to 11/6; Californian Xewtowns, 9/ to 10/6; British Columbian Jonathans, 8/6 to 11/; Delicious, 9/ to 10/6. Pears. — Market steady. Californian Winter Nelis, 10/ to 14/; Washington Winter Nelis, 8/6 to 11/6; Anjou, 13/ to 16/; British Columbian Anjou, 13/ to 15/.
