On various grounds, which included the submission that negligence on the part of tlie defendants had not been proved and that the verdict of the jury was against the weight of evidence, a motion was before Mr. Justice Callan in the Supreme Court to-day asking that the verdict be set aside, that judgment be entered for the defendants on a nonsuit, and that a new trial be granted on the ground that the verdict was against the weight of evidence.

To-day's motion arose out of an action recently heard in Hamilton when a jury awarded Charles Scrivier Goodwill, garage proprietor, Te Puke, £508 special, and £2000 generjil damages against two defendants, Kjithleen Saulbrey, bf Ngaruawaliia, married woman, and Edwin James Parry, of Wiri, farmer. On January 27 last the plaintiff received a fracture of the skull, ft fractured thigh, and other injuries in a motoring accident in which the cars of the three parties were concerned.

To-day tlio matter before the Court is confined to legal argument.
