GAY WELLSFORD.
ELECTRIC UGHT CARNIVAL
To celebrate the advent of electric Ksrhtl"B and power a carnival was held at Wellstord under the auspices of the Wellsford Business People's Association A. 11 business premises were decorated with terns and palms, and the shops were cav with streamers and garlands. Professional and business people wore fancy costumes, greatly to the amusement ot visitors. Free gifts and sporting articles in shop windows interested the manv visitors to Wellsford. J
At night tune the main street was thronged with the biggest crowd the townspeople had ever seen. Games of skittles and dart throwing were provided and a dance at the Wellsford Hall finished Friday's festivities.
A free picture show matinee was provided for the children, and a monster sports gathering on the showgrounds brought people from all the neighbouring parts of Albertland. w
For many years Wellsforcl was merely a name, but to-day it is the centre and capital of Albertland, and in the near ' future probably it is destined to become the larjiest town between Auckland and W haugarei.
