NEW CONTROL.

AUCKLAND HOSPITAL.

RESCINDING MOTION. MEMBER GIVES NOTICE. Mr. E. H. Potter, a member of the Auckland Hospital Board, has given notice to move at the next meeting that the motion passed by the board on November 30, providing for the retirement of the secretary/ and treasurer of the board, and the appointment of full time medical and surgical officers, also the appointment of a manager-secretary, be rescinded.

Mr. Potter said this morning that the resolutions, if carried into effect, would be drastic in operation, and affeel the smooth and effective running of the honorary staff system, which is taken full advantage of by the patients received into the institution.

Mr. Potter pointed out that the report of the committee, which was brought down at the last meeting, was not submitted to the honorary staff for an opinion, or to the medical superintendent, secretary br treasurer. He claimed it was essential that a report on the committee's report should be furnished to the board.

Mr. Potter said the committee failed to justify or substantiate the statements put forward, and pointed out that the effect of the national health scheme might be radical in operation and affect the present hospital system. The rescinding of the resolution would provide an opportunity for the new board, after the next election, to review the position in conjunction with the Government's national health scheme.

The chairman of the board, the Rev. W. C. Wood, and Dr. E. B. Gunson returned from Wellington this nufrning after discussing with the Minister of, Health, the Hon. P. Fraser, the proposal to appoint a physician as medical director and a surgeon as surgical director.

Mr. Wood said that no statement could be made until I the matter was discussed by the board in committee at a meeting this evening.
