MAGISTRATE'S WARNING. "It is a pity the Court has iu»t power to suspend licenses on such charges," said Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., in the Police Court at Otahtihii yesterday, when a motorist was convicted on two charges of excessive *|>eed. Evidence was given that defendant had driven past a echool at 44 miles an hour, and on the other occasion had driven at 48 miles an hour. Defendant had repeatedly ignored warnings, and had been convicted before on similar charges.

"If defendant had been charged with negligent driving, as the circumstances seem to warrant, I would have cancelled his license," eaid Mr. McKean. "Unless motoriets take heed of warnings they must be put off the road."

Defendant was fined £6 and costs,
