SMALL ANNUAL FEE.
HOSPITAL TREATMENT.
(From Our Correspondent.) DARGAVILLE, Friday. Questions dealing with the construction of a new hospital for Dargaville, approval of which has been given by the Minister of Health, the Hon,. P. Fraser, were considered at the monthly meeting of the Kaipara Hospital Board to-day. The establishment of the new institution will result in the ultimate closing of the present Northern Wairoa Hospital at Te Kopuru.
The board agreed that for the present arrangements should be left in the hands of the chairman, Mr. P. R. Walden, and the staff.
Negotiations were finalised whereby, on payment of a small annual fee in a manner similar to the procedure adopted with friendly societies, members of the Returned Soldiers' Association will receive free hospital treatment. Mr. F. Snowden, of the association, who waited on the board, stated that while a canvass of the association's members had not yet been made, it had been ascertained that at least 50 men would come under the scheme.
