THE BRITISH FISHING FLEET

The British fishery fleet is now the finest and the British sea fishing industry the most enterprising in the world. To-day a million tons of fish is lamled annually in Great Britain, and tlie variety has increased to a great extent. In the old days there was only "prime" fish and offal. To-day there are species of all kinds and sizes and flavours to suit all purses, from the turbot —the king of fishes —to the humble sprat or herring. This quantity gives rouplily a pound of fish per week for every inhabitant of Great Britain. It would be better for the health of the public if this I quantity were doubled.
