Evidence that the increase in importations of motor cars into New Zealand, particularly from Britain, is being maintained is contained in returns issued today by the Customs Department for. the nine months ended September. Imports of motor cam have now reached the rceord average figure of 2000 a
month. The total value of passenger motor vehicles, assembled, unassembled or completely knocked down, imported during this period was £3,730,571. Britain supplied 13.540 vehicles worth £2.153.74(1. Canada was second with (1400 vehicles, valued at £077,032. and the United State* third, with 4013 vehicles, valued at £l! 08,382. Auckland's share in the total importation* for the nine months wan 418fi vehicles, valued at £674,353. In the past three years Xew Zealand's purchases of British cars have been 'doubled, and the present average is J about 1000 a month, which is almost one-third of the total export sales of I British motor manufacturers.
