CHEERFUL OPENING.
I LONDON STOCK MARKETS. LATER IRREGULARITY. (Received 10 a.m.) LOXDOX, October 18. In spite of a fairly cheerful start for the week, the London stock markets developed irregularity later in the day, and mining and industrial shares closed below their best. After the ups and down of the past fortnight it appeared at the close of lust week that the market had settled down to a steady recovery. The crisis 011 Tuesday morning, when the market virtually "collapsed, was followed the same afternoon by a remarkable recovery in all sections, and since then further improvement has been reported each day. It will take time, ot course, to get over the crisis which was stated to be the severest blow the market had experienced since the crash in 102!). The irregularity which developed yesterday shows that brokers are still inclined to be jumpy. A cabled message received yesterday stated, however, that London financial opinion generally holds that the record trade activity and high profits and dividends will continue to lift the market from the low levels reached.
