As a mark of. appreciation for services rendered to the Onehunga anil District Caledonian Society. tRe retiring l chief, Mr. J. H. Preston, was presented with a marble clock by the committee and members „f the society at a gathermg at Mr. Preston's residence, Selwyn street, last evening. * i Dr. James Kirk wood, patron, in making the presentation, expressed regret that Mr. Preston was compelled to retire owing to prolonged illness. Other speakers followed. Mr. Preston suitably acknowledged the gift.
