Sir William Hunt, of Wellington, arrived by air yesterday a&grnoon and is at the Grand Hotel. Inspector S. F. Sanders, M.C., and Mrs. Sanders, of Fiji, are at present on holiday in Auckland. The Hon. W. H. Mclntyre, M.L.C., of Nelson, will return South by the Limited express to-night. Mr. M. J. Reardon. conciliation commissioner, left for Wellington by the afternoon express to-day. Mr. C. G. Herdman, of Auckland, returned by the Matua this morning after a round trip to the Islands. Mr. H. F. Mann returned to Auckland by the Matua this morning. He has been on a round trip to the Islands. Mr. E. A. Grimrod returned to Auckland by the Matua this morning after making the round trip to the Islands. Colonel E. Miles, officer commanding the Northern Command, will leave for Wellington by the Limited express tonight. The Hon. H. G. R. Mason, Minister of Justice and Attorney-General, will leave for Wellington by the Limited express to-night. Mr. H. E. Herring. M.P. for Mid-Can-terbury, arrived in Auckland by train durinjr the week-end, accompanied by Mrs. Herring. Mr. B. A. Smith, of A. B. Donald, Limited, returned to Auckland by the Matua this morning after a round trip to the Islands. Professor Maxwell Walker, of Auckland University College, who has been visiting Wellington, returned by train during the week-end. Liuetenant H. W. Jones. Royal Naval Reserve (New Zealand Division), has been promoted lieutenant-commander, according to a Gazette notice. Sir Francis Frazer. who has been presiding over sittings of the transport tribunal, left for New Plymouth by air during the week-end.
Mr. Godfrey Garrick, a barrister of Fiji, arrived at Auckland from Suva by the Matua this morning on a business trip to the Dominion. Mr. G. C. W. Reid. managing director of Reid New Zealand Rubber Mills, Limited, left for 'Wellington by tlie Limited express last night. The Rev. T. H. Roseveare, of Papatoetoe, moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church, is visiting charges in the Waikato Presbytery. The Hon. David Wilson, of Wellington, one of the newly-appointed members of the Legislative Council, was n visitor to Auckland during the weekend. Mr. W. F. Sutton, who has been secretary of the Automobile Association (Otago), for the past eight years, has been appointed touring manager of the association. Mr. Malcolm Brodie. of the Union Soap and Pacific Biscuit Company at Suva, arrived at Auckland by the Matua this morning, in the course of a round trip of the Islands. Messrs. A. S. Richards, C. R. Petria and H. M. Rushworth, M.P.'s, will leavs for Wellington by the Limited to-night. Messrs. A. G. Hultquist, A. F. Moncur and R. Coulter, M.P.'s, will join at Frankton. Group Captain the Hon. R. A. Cochrane, Chief of Air Staff of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, returned to Wellington by air yesterday afternoon. He was in Auckland last week as a member of the Government's committee to discuss aerodrome sites. Messrs. J. N. Matson and R. Hurst are the nominees from Canterbury University College for the next Rhodes Scholarship. Mr. Matson, who was the unsuccessful Canterbury candidate last year, is a law student, reading for the final section of his LL.B. degree, and intends entering the Colonial Service. Mr. Hurst holds an M.Sc. degree and is interested in research chemistry and physics.
