NATIONAL COUNCIL.

END OF CONFERENCE. As the result of a discussion on motherhood endowment, held at the final meeting of the Dominion Conference of the National Council of Women on Saturday, approval was given to the principle of increased family allowance. It was suggested that the amount should be made available for all children under the age of 16 years. The final function of the conference took the form of a presentation of a jade coloured bowl to "the retiring president, Miss C. E. Kirk. The retiring secretary, Mrs. M. J. Forde, received two crystal vases, and the. Dominion treasurer, Mrs. E. McNair, was presented with an embossed casserole. The presentations were made by Mrs. Goffe, president of the Gisborne branch, on behalf of all the delegates to the conference.
