TEACHERS SMOKING.
I was very pleased to read in your columns that the Auckland Education Board had wisely decided to put an end to the dangerous habit of school teachers smokinsr in either school buildings or playgrounds. It has been said that Education Board members sinoke at board meetings, but this is quite another matter, as the members are all men of mature years, some with long experience of the use of tobacco and well acquainted with the attendant hazards. If school teachers would give a lead by giving up smokinsr possibly their pupils would be influenced to discourage parents from indulging in this undesirable habit, which seems to be growing in popularity at a rate closely related to the down grade in the standard of our manhood, both physically and morally. REFORM.
