SOLDIERS' PENSIONS
Tour correspondent '"Sanitary Corporal" has struck the right note when he charges the Government with wilful neglect of the returned soldier. Before the election yiiour member* were always prating about the standard «>f living, and how returned men. one and all. would t>e provided for and driven a pension. They have utterly failed to keep their promises. Take my case as an instance. I returned to New Zealand and was granted the pension, after which I surrendered it. thinking I was well again, but. alas. I soon got very ill and was informed the trouble was pre-war. Xo pension was granted and no appeal will be allowed, says the Hon. F. Jones. \et the Pensions Department admits my trouble was contracted on active service. W hat a farce! I appeal to the Prime Minister to do his duty towards us returned men: our time is short. We are suffering through no fault of our own. Our countrv can afford to do its duty by us, and a royal commission should be set up to investigate why so nianv returned soldiers cannot <ret the pension. HEXRY JIGGEXS.
