MIDDLESEX LEADS YORKSHIRE. With the failure of Yorkshire to defeat Surrey outright, at the Oval yesterday, Middlesex, by victory over Kent, take the lead in the county championship. Each county has yet to play two matches. If Yorkshire win both their next matches outright, Middlesex will have to do the same in order to retain the lead.
