OBITUARY.
MR. SAMUEL SKEWS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) HASTINGS, this day. The death has occurred of Mr. Samuel Skews, aged SS. He came to New Zealand from England in 1594 on the Wairarapa, which was wrecked on Great Barrier Island, at the entrance to Hauraki Gulf, his first wife and three children being drowned. He had lived in Hawke's Bay since his arrival and was engaged in farming. He is survived by three daughters and two sons. His second wife died some years ago.
