THIRTY DAYS.
TERM IN PRISON.
TAXI DRIVER SENTENCED. INTOXICATION CHARGE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. this day. Thirty days' imprisonment with hard labour was imposed on Frederick Henry Hookham. a taxi driver, who was charged in the Magistrate's Court to-day with being intoxicated in charge of a ear. Hookham's license was cancelled, and he was declared unfit to hold one for two years. Mr. E. C. Levvey, S.M.. presided. A traffic inspector gave evidence that he was called to the scene of an accident on Friday night, and he noticed Hookham under the influence of liquor. Hookham drove witness to the Council Chambers, where witness took charge of the car and drove Hookham to be examined by a doctor. When Hookhani was driving the car he turned to the left and put siis left hand out in front of witness, who was sitting beside him. Hookham admitted having had six drinks.
