FISHING INQUIRY.
HARBOUR BOARD CRITICISED. "UNSATISFACTORY FACILITIES." Strong complaint concerning the "unsatisfactory facilities" provided by the Auckland Harbour Board was voiced to-day by* several witnesses who gave evidence to the Sea Fisheries Investigation Committee, according to a statement issued by the committee at the luncheon adjournment. The sitting is being held in camera. Evidence was tendered by McCallum Bros., the North Island Fishing Boat Owners' Association, the Australian Fish Meal, Oil and Hide Co., Ltd., the Auckland Seine Boat Association, Ltd., and a number of fishermen. Matters submitted by these ■witnesses related to the earnings of fishermen, costs of fishing gear, the survey of fishing boats, fishing limits proposed with the object of conserving fish supplies, export arrangements, scientific research, and the licensing of boats and firms.
