WINS J. W. SAVIDAN CUP. OPEN HARRIERS' EVENT. TECHNICAL WINS TEAMS RACE. rTeading the field by over 200 yards J. 1. B. Neil, Auckland's new distance runner, won the Savidan Cup in the I'ukurangaEllerslie road race, a distance of six uiiles, in :!l.;i. The second man was the 42-year-old J. Nicholson, the veteran of track and road racing in Auckland. Nicholson's time was 32.5. A younger brother of the donor, 1-'. Savidan. tilled the third place a short distance behind Nicholson. Mr. J. Wright, the starter, got his men away in good style, and soon Neil, I'errett, Nicholson, sen., Savidan, BeadlCy and Heney bunched together, with Neil showing the way. At the top of the long hill Neil was in command, followed by Hayes, Harding, Savidan. Nicholson and I'errett. Passing Tainaki Bridge Neil had increased his lead to SO yards, and Harding, Nicholson and l'erritt were together, with Savidan trailing t hem. Neil was now running strongly, and passing the end of Ferndale Road was a certain winner, having a hundred vards to spare from J. Nicholson, the iatter having drawn away from Savidan and Harding. Then came a clear break to J. l'erritt, who was well clear of Tyson. The results were:— Savidan Cup.—First mid fastest time, J. I. B. Neil (I'res.) 1, J. Nicholson (Tech.) 2, I". UNIVERSITY CLUB. HEAVT GOING EXPERIENCED. The going was heavy on Saturday when -'j Lniversity men turned out for a club run of (5 miles, starting from King's College, file course was a mixed one, consisting of road and cross-country work over the Mangere district. Results of the pack run were as follows :— Fast. —E. Stephenson 1, J. \V. MacKenzie 2, A. L. Ball 3, A. Kinsella 4, E. H. D'Ath-YVeston D. Medium.—E. R. Collins 1, A. D. Thomson 2, F. G. Respinger 3. A. Ingham 4. Slow.—B. N. Harden 1, L. White 2, W. J. Dunlevy 3, A. M. Henderson 4. The handicap sprint race for the Kohn Cup resulted in a win for E. H. D'AthWeston (2yds). H. D. Ball (scr) was second, and J. \V. MacKenzie (10yds) third. Next Saturday a club run will start from the residence of Mr. Julius Hogben, Station Terrace, Remuera.

LYNNDALE CLUB. In the novice championship of the Lynndale Harriers Club the results were:—J. Howells 1, D. Ueorge 2, D. Murdoch S. The sealed handicap resulted :—J. Pearson 1, A. Xunns 2, L>. George 3. PRESBYTERIAN AND WESLEY. '••■ Wesley harriers were the guests of the Presbyterian Club at the Ellerslle Church on Saturday. Owing to the absence of nine Presbyterian members in the Savidan Cup race, the fast pack held no run-in, but Chappell and Moore (Wesley) and Boys and Mclndoe (Presbyterian) showed to advantage. Run in results :— Intermediate. — Dean (Presbyterian) 1, Crump (Wesley) 2, Elder (Presbyterian) Slow. — Bray (Wesley) 1, Knight (Wesley) 2, Smith (Wesley) 3. BAPTIST CLUB. The Auckland Baptist's Club held a hard but enjoyable run around the' Manukau Harbour from the Royal Oak Baptist Church to Otahuhu, via West field and home via Mangere mountain. The total distance was about 13 miles. Among those to the fore were V. Connell, H. Ferguson, and P. Purness. K. Marson and R. Hammond showed great possibilities. The slow pack ran in the vicinity of Mount Smart. Results for slow pack:—W. McMurray 1, A. Carbine 2, T. Turley 3. CALLIOPE CLUB. The annual race round Lake Pupuke resulted in a win for B team, which obtained 20 points. Those In the winning team were : —Hardman, Charman, Fanigan and Ambler. The C team were second, with 34 points, those in the team' being Short. Keilder, White and Hunt. I? team, with 35 points, was third, and A team, 47 points, was fourth.
