ATTITUDE OF GROWERS. SUGGESTIONS OF CHANGE. (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) CHKISTCHURCH, this day. Abolition of the receiving and delivery charge, a reduction of the retailers' percentage of profit, and a reduction in the number of brokers, were recommendations of the Fruit Marketing Committee endorsed by the Canterbury Provincial Fruitgrowers' Conference. The conference went into committee to hear a statement by Mr. W. Dallas, of the Department of Agriculture, Wellington, regarding the Government's proposals for the local marketing of fruit, and on resuming in open meeting, consideration v. as given to remits for the Dominion conference to be held in We'lington on August 5. Other remits approved .vere:— ''That the charging for cases be universal."' "That the Government be pressed to carry out standardisation for the coming season." '"That it be a recommendation to the New Zealand Standards Institute that the following be incorporated in the fruit grading regulations: (a) That the extra fancy grade for local market be not lower than the present extra fancy grade for export. (b) That the name of the district where the fruit is grown be branded on the package, (c) That the fruit carry an indication of its grade mark and district of growth until sold to the consumer. (d) That the grades of dessert apples be limited to four."
