STATE NOT COMMITTED. BUSINESS MEN'S CONCERN. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. A denial that the Government was in any way committed in the matter of the proposed manufacture of motor tyres in Xcw Zealand was given by the Minister of Industries and Commerce, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, in a letter to the Associated Chambers of Commerce, which had made representations to him on the subject. Mr. Sullivan said the industry had been prazetted under the Industrial Efficiency Act, and applications had been received from practically all the major tyre maiiiifactur?rs. All involved various measures, of Government assistance, including tariff protection ajrainst United Kingdom products. No decision had yet been made by the Bureau of Industry, and the Government was not committed to any one applicant, or to any degree of tariff protection or even the investment of Government funds.
