SETTLEMENT REACHED
FORTY-HOUR WEEK. FIBROUS PLASTER TRADE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. An almost complete settlement resulted from the discussion before the Conciliation Commissioner, Mr. M. J. Reardon, of the dispute between the Carrara Ceiling Company, H. P. Coleman and the Atlas Fibrous Plaster Company, and the Wellington Plasterers' Industrial Union of Workers to-day. Only one clause, governing under-rate workers, remains to be settled by the Court. A 40-hour week was agreed on, work to begin at 7.30 a.m., provided the men are agreeable. The following wages were agreed to: — Journeymen fibroue plasterers, 2/8 an hour; fibrous plaster castere and wallboard makers, 2/5; casters of cornice, rib and other light castings, 2/3; castere employed in the manufacturing of cement sheets, 2/ss; boys under 17, 20/ for the first six months, and 25/ for the second six months; from 17 to 18 years of age, 30/ for the first six months, and 35/ for the second six months; from 18 to 19 years, £2; from 19 to 20, £2 10/; from 20 to 21, £3, and adult rates thereafter.
