UNITED STATES ATTITUDE.

WASHINGTON, June 30.

On conclusion of conferences between President Roosevelt and the Prime * Minister of Belgium, Dr. van Zeeland. a joint report was issued stating: Within the framework of the traditional American policy it is the disposition of the United States to co-operate in the joint work of rebuilding international trade, continuing co-operation in monetary matters and seeking an arrangement whereby the burdens and dangers of overwhelming armaments would be reduced, or the methods of their employment be safeguarded.

Mr. Roosevelt commented that the conversations had been most helpful and encouraging.

KING AT TATE GALLERY.

SCULPTURE HALLS OPENED.

British Official Wireless. RUGBY, June 30. The King and Queen drove from Buckingham Palace in an open landau drawn by four Windsor preys to the Tate Gallery, where His Majesty opened the new sculpture halls, a gift of Lord Duveen. His Majesty described the new halls as. the finest in the world. He congratulated the gallery, which owes its origin to private generosity, on the fact that its benefactors always have been ready to subscribe toward extension of its scope.
