DOGS ON BEACHES.

BY-LAW TO BE DRAFTED.

TAKAPUNA BOROUGH RATES,

The Takapuna Borough Council decided last night to draft a by-law to combat the nuisance caused by uncontrolled dogs on the beaches. A consolidated rate of 1/ in the £ was fixed at the meeting. The deputyMayor, Mr. W. M. White, who was in the chair, gave notice that he would move the formal striking of tbe rate at a meeting of the council on July 1.1. A total expenditure of £6#,29» is proposed in tile estimates for the year. Total receipts estimated are £>>3.103, of which £3T>,000 is expected from the proposed rate. The Auckland Hospital Auxiliary was granted permission to hold a street collection in the borough on October 1 in conjunction with the Society for the Protection of Women and Children.

A complaint was received about tbe condition of the parking area at Bayswater. It is intended to write to the Auckland Harbour Board to see whether anything can be done. The correspondent stated that repairs were urgently needed.
