DISAPPOINTMENTS.
GIRL DIETITIAN.
AUSTRALIA AND AMERICA.
DIETARY AND PHYSICAL FAILINGS. (Special.—By Air Mail.) LONDON, June 12. Miss Pearl Winifred Taylor, of South Africa, is going round the world asking, "What do you eat and why?" For faddists and stunt diets she has no time. The really sound, healthy diet consists of meat, eggs, milk, fruit and vegetables," she said. "Eat those things in gTeater or lesser quantity just as you feel inclined, and you'll keep well. Eating should be enjoyable, not a penance. "From Capetown I went first to Australia, and got one of the biggest disappointments of my young life. Those people have got one of the grandest climates in the world, and all the food they need is home grown. They ought to be physical marvels, but they aren't. All the men seem stunted from the waist down, the girls are roundshouldered and haven't the slightest idea of deportment. Australians don't get enough exercise, that is the trouble. '"In America work hard and play hard seems to be their idea of enjoyment, and there is no fun in doing anything unless you can do it in a hurry. They are marvellously friendly people, but they all look so tired and worn. They eat too much, too. No American seems to like to stop eating until he is really full."
