GREAT SEAL PANCAKES.
The mould in which the Great Seal is made wa*i used, to fry pancakes when Lord Brougham was Chancellor. He took the Great Seal with him to Scotland, and some light-hearted, or lightheaded, ladies" of the house party played a trick on him by hiding it. Naturally, Brougham was considerably upset. His relief when the ladies took pity on him and restored the "bauble" was so great (says the "Manchester Guardian") that he consented to them frying pancakes in the silver mould.
