AFTERNOON FOR GIFTS. Exquisite examples of knitting and handwork were the features of the gifts collected yesterday afternoon when the sub committees of the Ever Ready and Sewing circles of the Victoria league held a party in aid of the Winter Show stall. An excellent response was made by the members to the call for gifts for the stall, and many hand-dressed dolls, children's knitted garments and homemade jams were sent in a.s contributions. As a farewell to Mrs. .T. B. Macfarlane, who is leaving shortly for a holiday in Suva, the committees of the Ever Ready and Sewing circles presented her with bouquets of winter flowers. The afternoon's programme. \yhicli was arranged by Mrs. Humfrey Gordon, 'ncluded a pianoforte solo by Mrs. Reg. Reid. a recitation by Mrs. Jock Allen, a song by Mrs. Huon Buisson. and a violin solo by Miss Ida Lockwood. Mrs. Reg. Reid was the accompanist.
