ORPHEUS CLUB. The Orpheus Music and Dramatic Club gave a delightful presentation of pianoforte and vocal items at the Overseas League Rooms last evening. Miss 1 heo Halpiu and Mr. Robert Simmers received the guests, the former wearing a frock of powder blue ring velvet. Items were given by Betty Rosenfeldt. Evelyn Bushridge. Dorothy Bisset, Ailsa Smith. Kathleen C 'ruickshank. Theo Halpin. Hazel Palmer. Lucy Tripp. I Lorna Frith. Rosamond Caradus. .Joyce McKcan. Betty Sheath. Dorecn Paterson. Inez Ogg. Alfred Hawkins, Cyril Shepherd and Eric Child. THE CLASSIC CLUB. The Classic Club's fifth meeting of the present season was held recently, and was presided over by the club's vicepresident. Mr. Owen Jensen. Members who contributed items were: Miss Mavis Beadle. who sang "Lullaby." "Children's Pleasures" (Mozart). "The May Night." "Cradle Song." "Love is Forever" (Brahms) ; Miss Lillian Kennedy sang "lVdo's Lament" (Purcell). "Breathe. Soft Ye Winds" (Handel). '"Wiegenlied" (Reger). "Morest Heart" (Wolf); MUs Olive Ball contributed "Che Faro"' (Gluek). "In Youth Ts Pleasure" (Cibbs). "The Fairy's Lullaby" (Xocdhri m). "Easter Hymn" (Bridge): Mr. John Ford presented tenor solos. "Sorrow" (Pergolesi). "Star Yaeino" (Salvatore Rosa). "The Shcnherd's Song." "Rondel" (Elgar) ; Mr. Howard .Tenkin sang "Lover's Confession." a miniature songcycle by Purecll. and "A Pleading." "None But the Lonely Heart" (Tcliaikovski). Instrumental trios. "Scherzo and Finale. Trio No. 1" (Beethoven). "Lnrghetto Con Moto." "Moderato" (Gade). were contributed by Miss Daphne Higliam (violin). Miss Betty Fen ton ('cello), and Mrs. Maud Lvsaght (piano), and pianoforte solos "Fugue" and "Chorale" (Bach) and "The HvrdyGurdv Man " (Goossens), "Ritual* Fire Dance" (de Falla) were rendered by Miss Joan Dowding The accompanists for the evening were Mr. Owen Jensen and Mr. Alan Pow.
