EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE.
VISITORS ENTERTAINED. An afternoon reception at which Dr. I. L. Kandel, professor of education at Columbia University, New York, and Mrs. Kandel were guests of honour, was held in the Tudor tearooms yesterday afternoon by the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute. The guests were received bv the Auckland president, Mr. A. Murdoch, and Miss W. Mansfield. Speeches of welcome were made bv Mr. R. McGlashan. the president of the New Zealand Educational Institute, and Mr. Murdoch. In his reply Dr. Kandel pointed out that the problems confronting education in New Zealand were not peculiar to it alone, but were facing Europe. Great Britain and the United States, and as yet no solution had been found.
