GOLDEN WEDDING.
MR. AND MRS. J. McIVOR. Fifty years of happy married life is the proud record of Mr. and Mrs. J. Mclvor, of 16, Telford Avenue, Mount Eden, who to-day celebrate their golden wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Mclvor originally came from Elgin, Morayshire, Scotland. They landed in Auckland from the s.s. Tainui on May 16, 1909 with six young children, all of whom are now married with the exception of the son, who was killed in the Great War. Mr. and Mrs. Mclvor settled in Dominion Road, where they •have continuously resided. Mr. Mclvor recollects that from Balmoral Road to Mount Albert Road there were only three houses, whereas now the district is thickly populated over a wide area which was previously conspicuous for its muddy roads and rock-walled paddocks. There were no shops in those earlier days, but an extensive and busy shopping centre 'is evidence of the growth of the district. Mr. Mclvor was in business in Dominion Road for some years, and had the agency for the "Auckland Star" for 16 years until he retired recently. During their 50 years of married life the couple have rarely, if ever, been separated, and it is an unfortunate .cir- | stance that illness should have separated them on the eve of the golden wedding celebrations, Mr. Mclvor having recently contracted a severe chill, necessitating his entry in a private hospital. Their many friends* will wish "Mr. Mclvor a speedy recovery, arid •' this i happy couple many more years of com- ' radeship.
