SHOP GOODS THROWN DOWN. EXPERIENCE AT THAMES. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) THAMES, this day. A sharp earthquake shock was felt throughout Thames township and district at 11.30 a.m. Goods and provisions in shops were thrown from shelves and many clocks stopped. Light globes swayed for several minutes. * • For some time after the 'quake Water in the wide drains on the Hauraki Plains swished about, indicating the severity of the tremor. A further alight shock was felt at 12.15 p.m. WORST ON RECORD. WAIHI SEVERELY SHAKEN. (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI,. this day. The most severe earthquake ever experienced at Waihi occurred at 11.35 a.m. to-day. It lasted for about five seconds and all the buildings in the borough were well shaken. CROCKER'S- SMASHED. (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) TE AROHA, this day. A sharp earthquake shock was felt here at 11.35 this morning. At Manawaru the disturbance was more severe, houses being shaken and crockery smashed. FELT IN TAURANGA. * (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) TAURANGA, this day. A pronounced earthquake shock was felt at Tauranga at 11.34 o'clock this morning. It produced a gentle swaying movement and appeared to travel from north to south. The 'quake was felt more severely at Mount Maunganui, and generally over the whole of this district.
