CABINET MEETS.
NEW PREMIER PRESIDES. British Official Wireless. (Received 1 p.m.) RUGBY, June 2. The announcement by the Prime Minister that the national defence contribution tax had been withdrawn, was almost unanimously approved by the Press. The first meeting of Cabinet to be presided over by Mr. Neville Chamberlain as Prime Minister, took place in the Prime Minister's room of the House of Commons this afternoon. Two new members, Earl de la Warr, Lord Privy Seal, and Dr. Leslie Burgin, President of the Board of Trade, were warmly welcomed.
