I As the Washington and London 1930 J naval treaties are no longer in force, and as Japan is not a party to the London Naval Treaty of 1036, no exchange of naval information takes place between Japan and this country, the First Lord of the Admiralty, Mr. A. 'Duff Cooper, told the House of Commons. The British Government had not, therefore, been informed of Japanese intent ions with regard to battleship construction. Since their refusal at the end of March to accept the 14-inch gun limitation, no further representations on the subject had been made to the Japanese Government.
