INCREASE IN STAKES.
It was decided at a meeting of the lakapuna Jockey Club yesterday to increase the stakes of the Takapuna, I upuke, Wynyard and Hauraki Plates from £300 to £400. These events are run at the club's spring and summer meetings respectively and similar conditions to last year will again be attached. .Nominations for the above events close with the secretary, Mr. R. Spinley, Shortland Street, on Friday, June 11
